Live from Switzerland

Back in February, I went to Switzerland to participate in JPG’s first gallery show. I also got to drop in on the Lift conference and participate in a panel about “The User/Citizen Centered Society.” They’ve just made a video of the panel available. I start blabbing at about the 22-minute mark. I think I did pretty good for a jetlagged, underdressed tourist.

There’s some really good content in there.

The woman near the end who was lamenting about the amateur sounded familiar, it seems like the same old arguments about dumbing down, losing value, etc. I could see how that movement could create an interesting new paradigm where really successful ideas wouldn’t necessarily make you filthy rich, as people who are paying you directly might be more concerned about not creating too much of a wealth imbalance.

It’s also becoming increasingly more clear how the role of human information filter is going to be even more vital in the future.
