Obama Blows Me Away

I just keep watching this video over and over again. And I’m not thinking “gosh, could a black man be president.” I’m thinking, could my embarrassing country actually elect someone able to speak about race with such authenticity?

I hope the answer is yes.

Tell me about it. With this speech, he makes me feel like any of my own racial worries or racial hangups, while unacceptable are understandable. Simultaneously, he makes me believe that things can be changed, that we’ve made progress and that progress is possible, probable even.

Another reason I loves me some Obama.

Yes we can!

Come on America, you can do it. I know you elected that moron Bush twice but seriously… DO IT. With this speech especially, Obama seems even less of a “politician” and truly a leader and a human. I actually can’t remember the last time I felt emotion, honesty, and conviction from someone running for any office. It feels like America (the world even?) needs him. I wish I could come down from Canada with a truckload of Obama votes.

Sure he’s a religious man and I am not; sure he’s a patriot and I have little national vigour; but the words CHANGE and HOPE under his image just don’t seem like marketing as much after that speech.

Amen Derek (and Barack).

I’m not sure America is ready for this kind of intelligence, sincerity, wisdom, and genuineness coming from a worldly man who happens to be black. I know I am.

I hope and pray that this magnificent speech doesn’t get lost in nitpicking him apart. Frankly I hope and pray that this magnificent man doesn’t get lost in the highly polarized political landscape he floats above.

I’ve been unsure of my conviction to support Obama . . .not anymore. This speech is the tipping point for me.

That speech wasn’t turning lemons into lemonade. That was alchemy. It may be a long, long time before we have a chance to elect another candidate like him.

I really hope you get him into office, I’ve been following it via the wit of the Daily Show, the BBC and the occasional source beyond and he really is the best candidate to lead America forward and out of the stupidity of the last decade.

Letterman should allocate 38 minutes to the next ‘Great Moments in Presidential Speeches’.

Obama is so articulate it takes ones breath away. Let’s hope enough people get behind him. T. Johnson, Leslie, Georgia

I hope that America will heal and embrace that perfect union starting from the election of this guy. He is a breath of fresh air.
